IUAV University of Venice (Università IUAV di Venezia) is a public university in Italy specializing in architecture and design, founded in 1926. Established as Italy's first specialized school of architecture, it was originally known as IUAV (Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia) and continues to be widely recognized by this name today.
As a prestigious institution where the legendary master Carlo Scarpa served as a professor, and where world-famous architects such as Aldo Rossi and Manfredo Tafuri have taught, it stands as one of Italy's premier architectural universities.
Guided by an educational philosophy that emphasizes strength, functionality, and beauty, the university offers interdisciplinary learning across a wide range of fields—including architecture, urban planning, landscape design, interiors, industrial design, graphics, and fashion—all set within the historic context of Venice. With a relatively compact student body of approximately 5,000, the university excels in international exchange and cultural heritage conservation.
